Yusuke Hama
Born in Atlanta to Japanese parents, Yusuke has been based in Shanghai for three years. He is a music producer, composer, and sound designer with releases from labels in the US, UK, and Japan. He DJs regularly in Shanghai and has collaborated on several projects with Chinese musicians.
Yusuke graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in Film and Video and cut his teeth on independent films and music videos for Outkast, Ludacris, Lil Jon, Jermaine Dupree, and Juvenile, and also working as video assist operator on productions including the Dreamworks film Road Trip. Yusuke eventually moved to New York where he worked on MTV productions and indie movies. Turning to live sound and theater audio, Yusuke worked at the Joseph Papp Public theater.
Yusuke has done sound for corporate and commercial shoots for clients including Skype, Apple, MTV, Discovery Channel, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and Ford, as well as the Danish film entry to the 2013 Venice Biennale. He also composed music for Nokia, Adidas, AOL, Diesel Jeans, Decathlon Sports, and URBN Hotels. He recently completed the sound design for Daedalum Films' forthcoming documentary From Wrexham to Wuhan.
Yusuke speaks English, Japanese, basic Mandarin and enough French to partially misconstrue French conversations within earshot. He is an experienced user of Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Reason, and Final Cut Pro.
